Our COACHES

ALEX HAYES

Alex is the founder and head coach of Process Powerlifting Club. He has been coaching since 2009, starting in team sports, moving into personal training, and eventually finding his home in powerlifting. He’s coached powerlifters online since 2014, and trains athletes in person at City Strength HQ, in Sydney.

He has coached athletes at all levels; from their first time touching a bar, all the way to the international platform in the IPF. Aside from coaching, he is involved in the sport as a meet director, referee, and competitor.

His coaching system is underpinned by evidence based programming principles, a strong understanding of human movement, an in depth awareness of athlete psychology, and of course - through over a decade of experience.

Outside of powerlifting, Alex is a Dad of two young kids, a huge sports fan and a podcast host.

Claudia O’Shea

Claudia is a passionate and skilled powerlifting coach and qualified physiotherapist. She started coaching in 2020, and since then has coached athletes from local to national level, both online and in person. She is also the current resident physiotherapist for the powerlifting gym, City Strength HQ. Beyond her coaching role, she is also an active powerlifting competitor and referee.

Her coaching style is comprehensive, personalised, and holistic. She leverages her deep understanding of human biomechanics to design science-based training programs that maximise strength and minimise injury risk. Through addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of performance, she is committed to helping her athletes reach their goals.

When she's not coaching or competing, Claudia enjoys going out to dinners with friends, watching live sport with her family, or simply chilling on the couch with her dog.
